Well, I had to drive down the hill yesterday and attend my Monthly UTA for the Reserves and got to meet some WWII veterans from the 452d Bomb Wing. They flew B-17 in Europe flying Bombing missions over Germany. They were doing the same thing that the movie Memphis Bell was written about. It was really neat to be able to interact with them. I must say that one statistic I heard was that almost 1,100 WWII vets are dieing everyday. Kinda sad don't you think.
That sounds fascinating getting to share the adventures of those WWII pilots. Your reservist position allows you all kinds of exciting experiences.
ReplyDelete1,100 sounds like an exorbatent amount, but considering it was a World War, and numerous soldiers were involved, I guess it is all relative. Does that number only represent American Vets or Vets from other countries as well? Considering this statistic it makes it all that more meaningful that they are able to pass on their stories to soldiers like yourself who can keep those memories alive.
