Working on my Webquest topic and thought that it will be about teaching High School athletes how to take not only their athletic skills, but to learn how to eat properly to fuel their body with a performance enhanced diet. Almost all athletes know how to train their bodies with weights and and exercise, but to truly get the most out of ones performance your body has to have the right fuel to help you last longer during competition.

EDUC512 Scoring Power Points

After reading the article on Power Point presentations my first thought was how many I have sat through with the military. Boring, boring, boring.. They did state in the article Death by "Power Point" and that is a phrase used by many in the military. Now I know that many people put a lot of time and effort into building a power point presentation, but they have to understand their audience and how they will react to it. I think it would be easier to make a fun and compelling power point presentation for school age kids then one that is real life military. The article was very interesting and did have some good information on how one should build one, but it really comes down to your personal flavor. I think that a basic power point presentation should not be to long or to short it should be catchy and funny based on your audience. Is your setting a classroom or auditorium is there 20 kids or 200. It would be very smart to collaborate with a few of your friends or co-workers to see if they have any tips or comments. If you are going to take the time to build a Power Point presentation then make sure to all of the means available out there to you. I really enjoyed the article and agreed with what it had to say. I don't think that there was anything that I didn't agree with because it was written to help you out. Can't argue with someone trying to help me out.

I've been thinking about my webquest project and figured I would go with the topic of A Healthy Life style with Diet and exercise. I've been working on trying to be more healthy as I'm aging and thought that this would be a good topic that everyone thinks about during their life. If I can help them out with some good information then this should be a win win for everyone.

Alright after much soul searching and the physical pains of spending money on things I want, but don't need I think I will become an Apple family. Yuk Now they will own me like the other billion people in the world. This is not a good thing.... I drove down to Azusa's main campus and of course got lost trying to find the campus off of Foothill Blvd. Then wondered around campus looking for the computer store and when I found it it only took 6 minutes to spend over 2K on Apple products. Now I just have to learn how to use them and spend even more money on apps that I will never use. Why? I am going to buy a couple Iphones 4s of course. My friends at the base will fall over when they see me rolling around with more Apple products then I know how to use. Good Grief what next Charlie Brown?

This blogging thing is not easy for a person that is very reserved. I'm not one to post or talk very much about myself, but I will give it a whirl. I have been enrolled at APU for almost 10yrs trying to attain my Masters and sped credential. I received my B.A. in Poli Sci from C.S.U.S.B. in "99" and never thought I would go back to school. When I first enrolled in the Sped Program my plan was to leave UPS and start teaching and coaching on an emergency credential, but as fate would have it my military obligation would take me away for 3 and half yrs. The wind of war was looming and I was called up to support the effort in the Middle East. I packed my bags and reported for duty leaving behind my family and life as I knew it.
  I have worked for UPS for almost 26 yrs. I was a supervisor for 12 yrs and the last 14 yrs as a driver. It is a solid company to work for, but they will beat you up on a daily basis. I have always said that working a yr at UPS is like a living in dog yrs. They add up and they add up fast. I can feel my body telling me it is time to move on to something that I know I will enjoy. Teaching and coaching have always been in the back of my mind, but making the change is something I have trouble doing. I have decided to continue at APU while I am still working that way I will have everything completed, but my student teaching. As I continue to be in the Air Force Reserves I have also thought about trying to teach the ROTC program at one of the schools in the local area. If I go this route I should be able to retire from both the Reserves and UPS and start collecting my retirement from the Reserves. UPS won't start paying me until I turn 55. Bummer..
  During all of this time I have also had a family to support me and help me get though all of the stress that comes along with full time work and school. I have a wife who has a son that is out on his own and has his own family. I also have a daughter that lives with her mom in Seattle. She just started her senior yr and would like to become an Officer in the military when she graduates from college. Her plan is to get an ROTC scholarship and have them pay for her degree. I'm very proud of all of her dreams and dedication to her goals. Hopefully she stays the course. That is it for now. Talk to you soon. Bye

Well, I had to drive down the hill yesterday and attend my Monthly UTA for the Reserves and got to meet some WWII veterans from the 452d Bomb Wing. They flew B-17 in Europe flying Bombing missions over Germany. They were doing the same thing that the movie Memphis Bell was written about. It was really neat to be able to interact with them. I must say that one statistic I heard was that almost 1,100 WWII vets are dieing everyday. Kinda sad don't you think.
